Johnny Lau is a Spanish R&B singer-songwriter born in Lima – Peru on December 17, 1993. His journey started when he obtained his first guitar at the age of twelve.

His interest in the poetry of Latin romantic music and the groove of soul inspired his music.

He began his career in important singing contests and festivals in Peru. Winner of Vidas Extremas Talento Peruano, winner of Rojo Fama Contrafama Perú and winner of the Claro festival in its last edition.

After being signed by Sony Music in 2016, he went to Mexico to make his debut album. This album includes both his original writing and collaborations with significant Mexican writers like Fernando Laura and Bruno Danzza.

On his second album he released all his R&B influences with a contemporary concept. The record “Protagonista” served as the catalyst for him to take part in significant festivals in Peru, sharing the stage with renowned musicians such as Sin Bandera, Camila, Matisse, Axel, Mike Bahia, Greeicy, Alex Cuba, Kalimba, Noel Schajris, Kika Edgar, La Big Band de Jazz de Mexico, among others.

Johnny Lau has co-written with maestros Bruno Danzza, Sergio George, Fernando Laura, Juan Carlos Moguel, Juan Solo, Ángela Dávalos, Ramón Arcos, Pablo Todd, Pepe Portilla, Héctor Mena, Freddy Cañedo, among others.

Over the course of his composer career, he has had over 20 songs covered by worldwide musicians, including El Bebeto, Yiyo Sarante, Pete Perignon, Gaby Zambrano, Jeremy Gómez, Daniela Darcourt, and others.

He has collaborated on world-class productions with multiple Latin Grammy winner Alain Perez, as well as with multi-Grammy winning Cuban-Canadian singer-songwriter Alex Cuba and Spanish pop star David Bisbal.

Johnny Lau is emerging as one of the most important exponents of Latin R&B.

Johnny Lau currently resides in Mexico and is part of Dynamo Productions, based in Los Angeles, California, under the presidency of none other than Sin Bandera’s Noel Schajris.
